I’ve been taking a look the last couple of days at network marketing and the ethics around it. You know, it’s really important to understand why network marketing companies exist at all. What’s the point right.? Why not just go to the local GNC store to get your vitamins? They know what they’re doing, RIGHT???
Companies distributing a product must choose between traditional distribution at a retail store vs. a somewhat less traditional approach with direct sales or network marketing. Let’s break down “network marketing”! Network means “communicate with and within a group” and Marketing means “promotion of products”. So network marketing is “communicating and promoting a product”.
The reason for direct sales vs. retail is actually pretty simple. It eliminates the advertisers, distributors, transportation companies and retail compaines. It’s not some kind of evil scheme to make a bunch of money. It is simply choosing a different way to promote a product.
So, Is it really about the product?
Absolutely…the product is the HEART of any direct sales company. With the product, now comes the opportunity for the average person like you or me to make an income off of the promotion of this product.
Unfortunately, this concept has been used inappropriately in the past with the promotion of a good compensation plan vs. a good product, which has led to many people being fearful of getting involved with a network marketing company.
How do you avoid getting stuck with a lousy product?
So you come across a product and find out is promoted through network marketing. How do you know if it is safe to buy the product? The answer to this is actually very simple. You RESEARCH it just like you would any other product you would consider buying. If it is consumable, you look at the ingredients.
Seems in this day an age we tend to make things more complicated than they are. I’ll tell you what…there is a good chance you are missing out on some excellent products at competitive prices by turning your nose up at network marketing companies.
One other misconception I want to touch on today is this “So now I’ve got to promote this product too?” The answer is “no”. You can be a customer and use the services or product without doing hard core marketing. It would be kind of strange though if you were a satisfied customer and didn’t mention it to your friends and family.
I will continue to try and simplify all of this as we continue. Until next time take a look at my most favorite product right now. Why is it my favorite? Because I am witnessing the positive impact that it has had on the health of so many people I know, and It’s NOT a juice!
